Humid, sweaty rainy season is when gel nails lift easily and longevity becomes a concern. To enjoy your nails longer, we explain tips for making them last from three angles: prep, daily care, and design.
The key to longevity is "prep"
What largely determines longevity is the prep before application. At the salon, careful cuticle work and removing moisture and oil from the nail surface increase the gel's adhesion. When this is rushed, nails lift especially easily in humid seasons.
Preventing lifting at home
- After washing your hands or bathing, thoroughly wipe away moisture, even between the nails
- Moisturize daily with cuticle oil to prevent lifting from dryness
- Don't use your nail tips as tools (to prevent cracks and chips)
Rainy-season-friendly designs
A single color that goes on evenly to the tip, a gradation that hides some regrowth, and simple, snag-resistant finishes all suit the rainy season. If a nail does start to lift, don't force it off — head to the salon early to remove or refill. This also helps prevent green nails.
At PRIVÉ Shirokane, we carefully handle the prep that determines longevity so you can keep beautiful fingertips even through the rainy season. If you struggle with lifting or breaking, please consult us.
