Self Hair Removal Terms
Please agree to the following terms before
using our unmanned self-service booth.
AzabuSystem Inc. ("the Company") sets forth the following terms and conditions ("these Terms") for the use of the unmanned self-service hair removal booth ("the Service") at PRIVÉ Shirokane. Customers ("Users") who use the Service are deemed to have agreed to these Terms and the PRIVÉ Shirokane Terms of Service.
Article 1 — Scope
- These Terms govern all matters relating to the use of the Service (rental of the self-service hair removal booth and payment processing) between the User and the Company.
- Matters not covered by these Terms shall be governed by the Company's general "PRIVÉ Shirokane Terms of Service" and "Privacy Policy." In case of conflict, these Terms shall prevail.
Article 2 — Nature of the Service
- Unmanned & Self-Service. The Service is provided in an unmanned booth where the User operates a professional-grade SHR (Super Hair Removal) light beauty device on their own body. Treatment is not performed by any medical professional, aesthetician, or licensed provider.
- Not a medical procedure. The equipment used is a professional-grade SHR light beauty device, not a medical device. It differs from medical laser hair removal; permanent hair removal is not guaranteed.
- Formation of contract. A service contract is formed between the User and the Company at the point the User completes a reservation and confirms acceptance of these Terms.
Article 3 — Eligibility
Only Users who meet all of the following requirements may use the Service.
- Age 18 or older. Users under 18 must have prior guardian consent and guardian presence. Please note that, pursuant to Article 5 of the Japanese Civil Code, a minor who uses the Service without guardian consent may later rescind the contract.
- Able to correctly understand the Terms and the operating instructions, and perform treatment at their own responsibility.
- Not subject to the contraindications listed in Article 4.
- Holder of a valid reservation and unlock credentials (My Page unlock buttons or unlock code) issued by the Company.
Article 4 — Contraindications (Who May Not Use the Service)
Do not use the Service if any of the following apply. The Company is not responsible for adverse effects resulting from use despite these conditions.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals.
- History of photosensitivity, sunlight allergy, or epilepsy.
- Recent sunburn, skin disease, wounds, moles, or tattoos on the treatment area.
- Undergoing hormone therapy or taking medications that increase light sensitivity (antibiotics, oral contraceptives, isotretinoin, etc.).
- Fever, poor physical condition, alcohol intake, or extreme hunger on the day of treatment.
- Using medical devices such as a pacemaker.
- Otherwise prohibited from cosmetic light treatment by a physician.
If you have any chronic condition or concern, please consult your physician in advance.
Article 5 — Equipment Use & Entry
- Entry and unlock. Five minutes before the reservation time, unlock buttons appear on the reservation detail screen of your My Page, and the building's intercom call is combined to enter the premises. Detailed step-by-step instructions are shown on the reservation detail screen. Unlock operations are restricted to the reservation holder; sharing or transferring unlock credentials to third parties is prohibited. No companions or accompanying persons are permitted except for a legally required guardian of a minor user.
- Confirming exit. When finishing your session, you must step outside of the room (i.e., outside the door) and then press the "Exit (Lock Door)" button on your My Page. Pressing this button is the sole act that confirms your exit, and the time of pressing is recorded as the exit time. The Company logs in-room motion-sensor activity after the button is pressed; pressing the exit button while still inside the booth is a breach of these Terms. Upon detection, the Company may issue a warning notification, calculate late fees for the reservation, and, in egregious cases, suspend future use and charge a separate penalty fee (amount notified individually).
- No-show / no entry. If the reservation end time is reached without any unlock or entry action, the reservation will be deemed completed at that time, no late fee will be assessed, and the paid fee will not be refunded.
- Operating instructions. Users must read the on-site operating manual and the device manual before use and follow all instructions.
- Safe irradiation. Wearing the provided protective goggles is mandatory. Irradiation of the face (especially around the eyes), areolas, genitals, or mucous membranes is prohibited. Apply cooling gel and avoid repeated irradiation of the same area.
- Treatment interval. To avoid skin stress, do not treat the same body area more than once every two (2) weeks. The Company is not responsible for redness, burns, or pigmentation resulting from shorter-interval repeat treatment.
- Clean-up. After use, return all equipment to its designated location and dispose of disposables in the designated bin. Users are responsible for the actual repair cost of any damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence.
- Timeliness and late fees. If exit confirmation (pressing the Exit button described above) is not completed within a 15-minute grace period after the reservation end time, the Company will automatically charge the registered credit card a late fee of JPY 2,200 (tax included) per 10 minutes of overstay (capped at JPY 11,000 per reservation). The basis for the "exit time" is the time the Exit button is pressed; if not pressed, the time of the last in-booth motion-sensor detection; if neither is recorded, the reservation end time plus the grace period. Please exit promptly if another User is scheduled next.
- Lost & found. Re-entry after exit confirmation is not possible. Items left in the booth will be held by the Company on a courtesy basis for seven (7) days from the date of discovery, after which they will be disposed of or reported to the police as lost property. High-value items (cash, precious metals, ID documents) are reported to the police on the day of discovery. Pickup requires presentation of a valid ID and is available only during store business hours. Return shipping is at the User's expense; the Company is not liable for loss or damage in transit.
- Security cameras. Security cameras are installed at the entrance and common hallway of the store (excluding booth interiors) for safety purposes. By using the Service, you consent to being recorded by these cameras.
Article 6 — Fees and Payment Timing
- Immediate payment. The full fee is charged immediately when the reservation is confirmed. Payments are processed through Stripe, Inc., supporting credit cards as well as Apple Pay / Google Pay on compatible browsers and devices.
- Subscription. If the User holds an active monthly subscription, reservation-time payment is waived up to the plan's visit limit. Beyond the limit, standard per-session payment applies.
- Same-day options. Any extension or option used in the booth may be charged separately as a post-session adjustment.
Article 7 — Cancellation and Changes
- Cancellation by the User incurs the following fees based on the time remaining before the reservation. Refunds are processed automatically via Stripe upon cancellation in My Page (funds may take several business days to return to your card depending on your financial institution).
| Cancellation timing | Cancellation fee | Refund |
|---|---|---|
| 48+ hours before reservation | None (0%) | Full refund |
| Within 48h – 24h before reservation | 50% of the fee | 50% refund |
| Within 24h or no-show | 100% of the fee | No refund |
- These cancellation fees are set within the range of average damages for a missed slot / replacement-booking loss, pursuant to Article 9 of the Japanese Consumer Contract Act.
- If the Company is unable to provide service due to equipment failure or facility issues attributable to the Company, a full refund or a rescheduled reservation will be offered.
- Late arrivals due to transportation delays or other User-side reasons are non-refundable. Unused time within the reservation is also non-refundable.
Article 8 — Self-Responsibility and Health Risks
- Self-responsibility. The Service is unmanned and self-operated. All device operation, intensity settings, area selection, and decisions whether to proceed are made entirely at the User's own responsibility.
- Health effects. If redness, burns, pigmentation, blistering, folliculitis, allergic reactions, or other adverse effects occur, the User is responsible for seeking medical care at their own cost. Except in cases of intentional or grossly negligent conduct by the Company, the Company bears no legal liability for such effects.
- Personal belongings. The Company is not responsible for theft or loss of personal items within the booth.
Article 9 — Prohibited Acts
The User shall not engage in any of the following acts when using the Service.
- Use by anyone other than the reservation holder; bringing companions or other third parties into the booth; sharing unlock credentials (buttons or codes) with third parties.
- Modifying, disassembling, or removing the equipment from the premises.
- Using the device on prohibited body areas (central face, around the eyes, areolas, genitals, mucous membranes, etc.).
- Eating, drinking, smoking, or using heated-tobacco products inside the booth.
- Commercial use such as video/photo shoots and posting images of the interior on social media without permission.
- Entering or remaining on the premises outside of business or reservation hours.
- Noise or behavior that causes nuisance to other users or neighbors.
- Use by, or provision of benefits to, anti-social forces.
- Any act violating laws or public order and morals.
Upon discovery of a violation, the Company may cancel the reservation, suspend the account, and seek damages.
Article 10 — Surveillance, Unauthorized Use, and Liquidated Damages
- For crime prevention and safety management, the Company records surveillance camera footage at the facility entrance on a 24-hour basis. No recording is made inside the treatment booth. The footage is used solely for investigating unauthorized use, for submission to the police or courts, and for enforcing these Terms, and shall not be disclosed to any third party for other purposes.
- If entry by any person other than the Member, bringing in a companion (with or without the Member's consent), misrepresentation or lending of registration credentials, sharing of unlock information with any third party, or any other unauthorized use is discovered, the Company shall immediately report the matter to the police and pursue criminal and civil liability.
-
In the case of the preceding paragraph, the Member shall pay the following liquidated damages through the Member's registered credit card or other means. Such amounts are set as a reasonable pre-estimate of the damages typically incurred in such cases (including video investigation costs, smart-lock re-provisioning costs, compensation to other members, brand damage, and lost business opportunities). Where actual damages exceed these amounts, the Company may separately claim the difference.
- Bringing in an unauthorized companion (first offense): JPY 100,000
- Lending or proxy use by any person other than the registered Member: JPY 300,000
- Unauthorized entry by a male or other person not eligible for membership, or entry involving misrepresentation of identity: JPY 500,000
- Where property damage, theft, voyeurism, obscene conduct, or other criminal acts are involved: the applicable amount above plus the full amount of actual damages
- In addition to the liquidated damages in the preceding paragraph, the Company reserves the right to permanently terminate membership, file a criminal complaint with the police, and take any and all legal measures available.
- The amounts set forth in this Article are intended to fall within the range of "average damages" under Article 9 of the Japanese Consumer Contract Act. If any portion is found unreasonable in light of that Article or other applicable law, such portion shall be reduced accordingly.
Article 11 — Disclaimer
- The Company makes no warranty of any kind regarding the hair-removal effects obtained through the Service (rate of reduction, permanence, etc.). Individual results vary.
- If the Service cannot be provided due to force majeure such as natural disasters, power outages, communication failures, or equipment breakdowns, the Company's liability is limited to offering a reschedule or refund, and the Company shall bear no further damages.
- Where the Company bears liability for damages, except where void under the Consumer Contract Act or other applicable law, such liability shall be limited to the amount paid for the reservation in question. This limitation does not apply in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence on the part of the Company.
Article 12 — Governing Law & Jurisdiction
- These Terms and all matters relating to the Service shall be governed by the laws of Japan.
- Any dispute arising in connection with the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo Summary Court or the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance, depending on the amount in dispute.
